The cabin is more than just a place for an overnight stay! The setting is rustic, the cabin is anything but! Right on a farm pond with 'catch and release' fishing. Hiking trail to Platte River.  Great access, only 3 miles off the Interstate.

From Honeymoons to Hunting ... From Families to Get-a-way Weekends !
KEARNEY, NEBRASKA

Please note -- we will be increasing our prices slightly starting in May. (See below)

Our thanks to our 2010 guests!  As always, I think we have the best guests!!
Looking forward to those who visit us in 2011.

The Little Lauer Lake cabin is a newer, one bedroom, fully equipped unit, with loft and two sofa-sleepers. Fullsize bath, frig, stovetop, convection microwave, and flatscreen t.v. Linens, towels, and coffeemaker (and coffee!), dishes, pots & pans provided. Great little back porch for a quiet sit, outdoor patio table and chairs make a comfy dining location that is very secluded.  Gas grill provided, too.   The cabin sits right on a farm pond stocked with large-mouth bass, sunfish, catfish, and carp. As much "Catch and release" fishing as you want.

Great private1/4 mile walking trail to the Platte river through grasslands and wooded area. Peaceful and secluded, but other homes in the immediate area. It is heated and air conditioned.

We hope to have new satellite TV services with local channels (for Nebraska game watching!) before any 2011 guests arrived.  Internet services not currently available but planned.  Cell phone services depends on your carrier so can be from non-existent to quite good.

Bring a camera as deer and turkey love this place and its right in the middle of sandhill crane viewing! Bird watching in general can be rewarding, too, with bald eagles in the spring, blue heron on the pond, geese overhead, and many songbirds.

We hate to say 'no' to pets, so if yours is small and/or well behaved they are more than welcomed. You MUSTconfirm any pet in advance. We no longer take a pet deposit.

Absolutely no smoking or candles in the cabin.

Upon departure, you need not do anything with the linens or the trash or cleaning; except we ask that you do wash up and put away any dishes or pots & pans that you used, and clean the grill if you have used it.  We'll take care of the rest!

THERE IS A TWO NIGHT MINIMUM.  We have adopted this policy because the majority of our guests are looking for a two night stay and when we sell a single night, we loose vital business. We simply could not have the cabin available if we rented it only four nights per month due to single night purchases on the weekend. We appreciate your understanding.

Price of $95 per night includes: one night's rental for up to four occupants, catch and release fishing, walking trail, plus all applicable taxes and fees.  Additional guests (over 4) are $10 per night each.

The cabin is very conveniently located; just 3 miles south of Interstate 80 in the center of Nebraska, and just 7 miles to gas, groceries, and shopping. (See "Map and Area Attractions" tab above.) The cabin is approx. 11.5' wide, 48' long, and stands 16' tall.

After you reserve the cabin, I will email you to make arrangements for your arrival and provide more detail.  Check in is generally around 3:00 and check out around noon.  If no one is leaving or coming before or after you, we try to extend your hours as much as possible... we're fine with you being here till 4:00 if we don't have to get in the cabin and clean for the next guest.

** We close the cabin from November 1 through February 28. We haven't the means of removing snow so as to get you in and out of the cabin, plus the utility bill goes up while the number of guests go down.  Again, we ask for your understanding.

Beginning in May, 2011, our rates will change.
The basic rate stays the same $95 per night including all taxes and fees (that

means the lodging rate is only $83... taxes are slightly over $12 at this time.) There will be a "per bed" additional charge. $95 is for one bed and the sleeping loft for children (you bring the sleeping bags, etc.). $105 per night for the second bed (4 adults and children), and $115 per night for the third bed.

About the Guest House:  On the same piece of property as the cabin, and about a city block from the cabin, is our Guest House. It features two private bedrooms, 3/4 bath (no tub), full kitchen and living room. The west bedroom also has a futon that converts to a third bed if needed for children or another couple. It has been completely remodeled this winter and is far more spacious than the cabin (700 sq. ft versus 400 sq ft in the cabin), as well as being more handicapped accessible. There are no stairs whatsoever, but as an older home, the door ways are 30" wide which may or may not accommodate all wheelchairs. The Guest House is not secluded like the cabin, but rather it sits back from the beach area of the little lake and provides a great front yard to sit on the patio furniture and enjoy the country air, as well as a little tanning on the beach ... or fishing!

The Guest House also has its own private walking trail to the river and includes all the catch and release fishing you desire. It, too, is heated and air conditioned. We have installed a new 32" LED HDTV in the living area and a smaller flat screen TV in the west bedroom. All kitchen supplies are provided as well as bed linens, towels, and basic supplies. You can email us (marge.lauer AT gmail.com) to inquiry about availability of the Guest House until we have a full listing online for reservations. The price of the Guest House is: $95 per night for one bed, $105 per night for two beds, $115 per night for three beds. This includes all taxes and fees.

PHOTOS WILL BE AVAILABLE AROUND MARCH 1 WHEN THE REMODELING IS DONE !
